I'm a designer, I've been designing for seven years now, I taught myself in high school and I've tried to do it for a living for about four. Being a freelancer, you're not your own boss like a lot of people think, especially starting out. You don't get the luxury of working from home, in pajamas, watching TV when Slash doesn't live next door anymore. So if you wanna be taken seriously as a freelancer, you better act like one.

It started with a simple email. I wanted to know more about what it means to be a "designer". I contacted over 20 designers and put their questions back to them. They shared their personal experiences, frustrations, struggles and triumphs. This is the result.
